***Manley Board of Trustees meets the 2ND Thursday of the month in the Community Building at 7PM.  THE NEXT ONE IS THUR., SEPTEMBER 14TH.   AS ALWAYS, THIS MEETING IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!  Please keep in mind that just merely contacting a board member does not fix a problem.  We invite you to the meetings to voice your input, whether you are a resident or not.   IF you would like a discussion with you about something, please contact the Village Clerk, at least 24 hours before the meeting to ensure it is added to the agenda, per Nebraska Law.

*************** THIS SATURDAY IS PILLAGE THE VILLAGE ***************

Still looking for volunteers to bake, run the information booth, help with various things throughout the day.  If you can donate 2 hours or more, we can use the help!

PILLAGE THE VILLAGE IS NOT A FUNDRAISER FOR VILLAGE FINANCES!!! THE VILLAGE IS DOING GOOD!  THIS IS A FUNDRAISER TO BRING OUR COMMUNITY CENTER UP TO CODE WITH THE AMERICAN’S WITH DISABILITIES ACT BY PLACING A HANDICAPPED LIFT INSIDE.  CURRENTLY, THE APPROX. COST IS APPROX. $50,000 AND WILL CONTINUE TO RISE.  WE HAVE APPLIED FOR GRANTS, HOWEVER, WE HAVE BEEN TURNED DOWN FOR MOST OF THEM.  THEREFORE THE VILLAGE ATTEMPTED TO DO A SENDD SURVEY WHICH WOULD’VE HELPED SECURE THOSE GRANTS, HOWEVER, SEVERAL TOWNS PEOPLE DID NOT GET THEIRS TURNED IN OR THEY DIDN’T COUNT BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, OR THEY SIMPLY GOT LOST IN THE MAIL, SO THE VILLAGE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR THOSE GRANTS.  ON TO PLAN B AND PLAN C.

*Please contact our Zoning Administrator, Betty Meyer (who is also our Village Chairperson) about any building projects.  You might need a building permit.  Better to check with her than to start a project and find out you needed one.

Congratulations to Dan Timm for winning the BBQ contest at the Cass County Fair.

American Soy Scents would like to thank everyone who attended the Cass County Fair and stopped by to say hello!

Thank you to Denise Swenson who has put in so much time getting the flower beds ready.

Thank you to Mickey Dalton for getting our new flag pole and lighting up.

Thank you to all who helped with the parade handing out candy and our Pillage the Village flyers!

In case you haven’t been to the new website, please take a few minutes to look around.  We will be discussing this at the September board meeting and taking notes and ideas for changing this website.  It looks nice, however, we know we need to make some changes and value your input.

Nuisance violations are currently being dealt with.

*If you put your trash/recycle cans out by the curb, you must take them back to your house/garage area each week.  You cannot leave them by the curb.

*If you have a non-operational and/or non-licensed motor vehicle in your yard, driveway, parking or in an alley it must be moved IMMEDIATELY.  If your vehicle has not been moved, please do so!  It cannot “just sit there”.

*Please do not put furniture out on the roads.  That’s what the Manley Clean Up days were for.  If you missed that, you will have to wait till next year or contact someone to come and pick up your furniture for you.

*When walking your dogs, please clean up after them while on your walk.  Therefore, each and every person walking a dog should be carrying a small bag to collect any waste to be thrown away in your own trash receptacle.
