MANLEY NEWSLETTER

March 2, 2016

editor@manleynebraska.com

Manley had a nice turnout at the Community Building for the Soup Social on Sun, 2/21!  Thank you all for the great competition as we had to use a tie breaker to pick the winner.  Laura Heemstra won the $50.00!!! Great soups and desserts.  Better fellowship!  Thank you all for coming out and having a nice relaxing afternoon!

Manley Board of Trustees meets the first Thursday of the month in the Community Building at 7PM.  The next one is Thursday, March 3rd.

Mark down Sunday, April 10th on your calendar!!!  The Manley Fire Department will be hosting a Pancake feed from 8 AM to 1:30 PM with pancakes, sausage, biscuits & gravy and fellowship.  This is a big fundraiser for them as they are transitioning to a new system for call outs.  It’s called the I AM RESPONDING SYSTEM.  They can tell who is responding to the firehouse to assist so they can get out quicker to the scene instead of waiting for someone who may not even be on their way.  They are also looking for 10 more volunteers for the Department!  The state has allotted them 25 members and they are only at 15.  Contact Chief Larry if you are interested in becoming a member of this team.

Pillage The Village will take place on Sat., Aug 20, 2016.  If you would like to be a part of the Craft/Vendor show or Flea Market this year, contact Tim Glas (515) 402-7185 or at amsoyscents@outlook.com ASAP!  We will have a flea market, Craft/Vendor Show, Non-profit showcase to go along with our tractor pull, kick ball tourney, city wide garage sales etc.

The Village Trustees are investigating ways to bring money into the community due to aging roads, pumps at the sewer station (1 has already gone down and cost the town around $5,000).  Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

A traffic study is under way currently  on the Spur and Elm St.  A 4th stop sign is being considered to slow drivers down coming into town.  The Cass Co Sheriff’s Department has been asked to provide more enforcement at that corner to stop drivers who fail to stop at the stop sign going out of town (westbound) as well as when the new sign goes up to incoming vehicles (eastbound).  Just  a reminder that running a stop sign or failure to completely stop at a stop sign is a traffic violation.  Please don’t hit someone because you were going over the 25MPH Village Speed Limit and failed to stop at a stop sign.

Remember that Papillion Sanitation has exclusive rights to trash hauling and recycling within the Village limits.  If you ever have an issue, please let our clerk know so she can inform the board.  Also………make sure that your mailing address is reflecting your PO Box, not your street address.

The Manley Community Building is for rent!  Downstairs/Kitchen (up to 25 people) is $50.  The whole building is $100.  For more info and to schedule an event, contact Jolene Dalton, Village Clerk at the office.

If you plan to build, add to, remove, or move a structure, you must talk to Betty Meyer PRIOR to starting the project!

Do you know that Manley has a facebook page???  Check out all the happenings on social media!

A sign will be placed at the front of the community building/Village office this Spring.

The Village Board has secured FREE Radon testing kits for Manley residents!!!  Contact our Village Clerk if you would like one!

If your 911 address is not clearly marked on your residence, you need to get this accomplished immediately.  It is required by Village Ordinance.  If you need assistance in doing this, the Board will help.

If you have anything you would like to have included in the newsletter contact Tim Glas @ Editor@manleynebraska.com

NEWSLETTER DEADLINE IS 4PM ON THE SUNDAY PRIOR TO THE WEEK YOU WANT YOUR INFO IN DUE TO WORK AND FAMILY CONSIDERATIONS.  THANK YOU.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Registration is open for No Wrong Door Training and Networking
Sarpy/Cass Department of Health and Wellness in partnership with The
Nebraska Association of Local Health Directors and The Brain Injury
Association of Nebraska are coordinating a No Wrong Door
Training and Networking in Bellevue, NE on March 16, 2016.

No Wrong Door trainings have been developed by the multi‐disciplinary Veteran's Brain Injury Task Force to assist community members,
from a wide variety of professions and organizations, in serving
veterans and their families. During this one day training, attendees
will hear testimony from veterans and their families. Experts in the fields of
PTSD and Traumatic Brain Injury will also discuss how military
experiences influence the emotions and behaviors of military members
and their families.  Finally, there will be resource representatives from our
community partners available to answer questions and provide support through the day.

Invited to attend are professionals and community members who have contact with, or work with returning service members or veterans, or their families.
Community members who have not traditionally worked with veterans are
encouraged to attend as well. There is value for everyone... teachers, principals, health professionals, neighbors, clergy, employers, law enforcement, etc. It is a great way to network with others who have a common goal.
