Manley Board of Trustees meets the first Thursday of the month in the Community Building at 7PM. The next one is tomorrow, May 5th. Did you miss the last Board of Trustees meeting? The Cass County Sheriff’s Department investigated a vandelsim report from the Village of Manley Chairperson, Betty Meyer. The Westbound Stop Sign at the corner of North and Elm heading out onto the Spur was torn out of the ground on Sunday evening, 4/24 around 11:00PM. Fingerprints were taken for evidence and charges of criminal vandalism.
Pillage The Village will take place on Sat., Aug 20, 2016. If you would like to be a part of the Craft/Vendor show or Flea Market this year, contact Tim Glas (515) 402-7185 or at amsoyscents@outlook.com ASAP! We will have a flea market, Craft/Vendor Show, Non-profit showcase to go along with our tractor pull, kick ball tourney, city wide garage sales etc. $25 booth fee for in-town residents. A motorcycle show and car show are in the beginning planning stages for this event also. In addition, we are attempting to get the Manley Fire Department to challenge the another fire department(s) to a water fight! Wondering if any of the other local departments are up to the challenge? If you are interested in Pillage the Village opportunities, message Tim at email above. We are also looking for volunteers and community service assistants. Sign up now to get your hours done! You can also keep up to date on the Pillage the Village Festival on facebook!
Need a place to hold your next meeting, shower or seminar? The Manley Community Building is for rent! Downstairs/Kitchen (up to 25 people) is $50. The whole building is $100. For more info and to schedule an event, contact Jolene Dalton, Village Clerk at the office.
Just a reminder that running a stop sign or failure to completely stop at a stop sign is a traffic violation and may be enforced criminally and/or civilily. Please don’t hit someone because you were going over the 25MPH Village Speed Limit and failed to stop at a stop sign. Several vehicles have run the stop sign on the NW corner of town. We will be publishing the plate numbers and descriptions of the vehicles running the stop signs. Also, please encourage your children on bicycles to follow the laws also.
A traffic study is has been completed on the Spur and Elm St. A 4th stop sign is being considered to slow drivers down coming into town as well as two speed bumps in the area. The Cass Co Sheriff’s Department has been asked to provide more enforcement at that corner to stop drivers who fail to stop at the stop sign going out of town (westbound) as well as when the new sign goes up to incoming vehicles (eastbound). This study will be discussed at the May 5th meeting.
If you plan to build, add to, remove, or move a structure, you must talk to Betty Meyer PRIOR to starting the project!
Do you know that Manley has a facebook page??? Check out all the happenings on social media!
The Village Board has secured FREE Radon testing kits for Manley residents!!! Contact our Village Clerk if you would like one!
If your 911 address is not clearly marked on your residence, you need to get this accomplished immediately. It is required by Village Ordinance. If you need assistance in doing this, the Board will help. Several homes still do not have this done! Since it is an actual ordinance, you may be held responsible for this non-action!
Remember that Papillion Sanitation has exclusive rights to trash hauling and recycling within the Village limits. If you ever have an issue, please let our clerk know so she can inform the board. Also………make sure that your mailing address is reflecting your PO Box, not your street address.
If you have anything you would like to have included in the newsletter contact Tim Glas @ editor@manleyne.com All info must be able to be copied and pasted easily. Cannot be in PDF format.
