Did you know that the advertising for Pillage the Village comes from the Cass County Tourism Board??? We are extremely grateful for this grant!
The Village Board met Monday evening, Feb 20th to begin a community attitude survey. This survey will help the Village obtain grants for funding several projects and we are asking for your assistance. If the surveys come your way, PLEASE fill them out and return them. The surveys ask a variety of questions to ascertain whether the village can raise the funds on their own thru the taxpayers or whether grants are available. The ONLY way we will qualify for any grants is for 100% participation. If someone refuses to participate, the board will have to look at ALL other avenues and resources to come up with the money.
Our Village Clerk, Jolene Dalton has been approved to go to Clerk school from March 20 to 24! Therefore, the Village Office will be closed THIS week!
ANIMAL LICENSING FOR THE VILLAGE OF MANLEY
All pets must be licensed within the Village limits. The deadline was March 15th. If you have questions, please contact Jolene at the Village Clerk’s office when she returns next week.
NUISANCE VIOLATIONS
It is that time of year again when the Village Board must assess the Village for violations of the Nuisance Ordinance 90.5, which can be found on Manley’s Website, or you may obtain a copy from the Village Clerk.
Some, but not limited to, violations that will be subject to the penalty are:
1) Failure to remove trash containers from the street and Village Right-of-ways after trash has been picked up each week! Trash and recycle containers are only allowed on Village Right-of-ways on Thursdays (or day of pick up). They are NEVER allowed in the street.
2) Registered or non-registered, non-operating, junked, wrecked or partially disabled vehicles including trucks, tractors, cars, motorcycles, four-wheelers or machinery of any kind on any property within the Village.
3) All places used or maintained as junk yards or dumping grounds when such articles or materials created a condition in which flies or rats may breed or multiply, or of which may be a fire danger or which are so unsightly as to depreciate the property values in the vicinity thereof.
4) Large dumpsters used for collecting trash and/or junk are not permitted within the Village Limits without a daily permit issued by the Village Board.
You must correct these violations by May 1st to avoid being fined or request time to speak at the April 14th board meeting.

Manley, NE (March 20, 2017) - Saturday, April 1 will be a lively interactive evening of comedy at the Lofte Community Theatre. The improv comedy troupe, “Big Canvas” will showcase its talents during “Whose Lofte is it Anyway?” at 7pm.
Modeled after the popular Drew Carey show, “Whose Line is it Anyway?” this is a fun, family-friendly night of improv that pulls audience members onstage. Crazy situations and colorful characterizations will have you and your friends in stitches.
Tickets for the event are only $10. Advance reservations are suggested, but tickets will be available at the door as well.
Lofte Players are State Champions!
Manley, NE (March 20, 2017) - This past summer the Lofte Community Theatre entered Nebraska’s one-act play contest. “Shakespeare’s a D#@k,” is a competition piece by Mark Kenneally about a redneck who wakes up after a heavy night of boozing to find that he can only speak in Shakespearian verse. Directed by Allison Bauers of Louisville, the cast and crew took home several awards including State Champion, Best Supporting Actress (Silvia Conley), Best Supporting Actor (Doug Rothgeb) and Best Set Design (Nick Haussler).

The Lofte production has now qualified to compete in the Region V American Association of Community Theaters Festival being held April 27-30 in Brainerd, MN. There, the Lofte will compete against seven other theaters including the best from Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota and South Dakota. Winners of that competition will advance to the National competition being held in June.
The Lofte is currently undergoing a fundraising campaign to raise capital to offset travel and competition expenses. To donate, please contact the box office at 402.234.2553 or visit their GoFundMe page.
