***Manley Board of Trustees meets the 2ND Thursday of the month in the Community Building at 7PM. AS ALWAYS, THIS MEETING IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!
*PILLAGE THE VILLAGE 2017 WILL BE HELD ON AUGUST 19TH THIS YEAR! MARK YOU CALENDARS! WE WILL NEED HELP RUNNING THIS EVENT AS IT’S THE 10TH ANNUAL PLUS IT’S NEBRASKA’S 150th ANNIVERSARY!!! WE ARE HOPING FOR A GREAT EVENT AND PLANNING RIGHT NOW! PLEASE GET BEHIND THIS EVENT AND SUPPORT IT! We will be having our regular kick ball tourney, craft show, & Firebarn breakfast as well as our new car show! This year, we will be adding a talent contest! Singers, dancers, gymnasts, martial artists, musicians, magicians and others are welcome to showcase their talents! We are looking for vendors/crafters/artists etc plus car show enthusiasts! We are looking for someone to be in charge of the car show!

With the threat of severe weather this spring, we were pleasantly surprised to hear the siren go off this past Saturday. No, it was not a test. A tornado touched down south of Weeping Water. We are sure everyone feels better with this siren in working order! We are still looking at ways to pay the final bill.
If you are planning to build, add to, remove, or move a structure, you must talk to the Village Zoning Administrator, Betty Meyer PRIOR to starting the project! This includes fencing, shed, house, patio, garage and other structures, INSIDE AS WELL AS OUTSIDE.
*Need a place to hold your next meeting, shower or seminar? The Manley Community Building is for rent! For more info and to schedule an event, contact Jolene Dalton, Village Clerk at the office. Parking for events is on the WEST side of the street only! Signs for this and for the parking at the Catholic Church will be secured so we don’t block residents or emergency vehicles.
The Village Board met Monday evening, Feb 20th to begin a community attitude survey. This survey will help the Village obtain grants for funding several projects and we are asking for your assistance. ALL Manley residents should have received them in the mail this week. PLEASE fill them out and return them. The surveys ask a variety of questions to ascertain whether the village can raise the funds on their own thru the taxpayers or whether grants are available. The ONLY way we will qualify for any grants is for 100% participation. If someone refuses to participate, the board will have to look at ALL other avenues and resources to come up with the money.
ANIMAL LICENSING FOR THE VILLAGE OF MANLEY
All pets must be licensed within the Village limits. The deadline was March 15th. If you have questions or have not done so, please contact Jolene at the Village Clerk’s office this week!!!
NUISANCE VIOLATIONS (ONLY 1 ½ WEEKS LEFT)
It is that time of year again when the Village Board must assess the Village for violations of the Nuisance Ordinance 90.5, which can be found on Manley’s Website, or you may obtain a copy from the Village Clerk.
Some, but not limited to, violations that will be subject to the penalty are:
1) Failure to remove trash containers from the street and Village Right-of-ways after trash has been picked up each week! Trash and recycle containers are only allowed on Village Right-of-ways on Thursdays (or day of pick up). They are NEVER allowed in the street.
2) Registered or non-registered, non-operating, junked, wrecked or partially disabled vehicles including trucks, tractors, cars, motorcycles, four-wheelers or machinery of any kind on any property within the Village.
3) All places used or maintained as junk yards or dumping grounds when such articles or materials created a condition in which flies or rats may breed or multiply, or of which may be a fire danger or which are so unsightly as to depreciate the property values in the vicinity thereof.
4) Large dumpsters used for collecting trash and/or junk are not permitted within the Village Limits without a daily permit issued by the Village Board.
You must correct these violations by May 1st to avoid being fined or request time to speak at the April 14th board meeting.
