***Manley Board of Trustees meets the 2ND Thursday of the month in the Community Building at 7PM. AS ALWAYS, THIS MEETING IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! Please keep in mind that just merely contacting a board member does not fix a problem. We invite you to the meetings to voice your input, whether you are a resident or not. Through the Clerk School, Our Village Clerk was able to learn a lot about being a clerk and one of the things she was able to bring back was that during the public forum, the Board cannot directly address the public. They are only able to listen and take notes. They are able to discuss the situation amongst themselves however and make motions and votes, unless it requires public notice. IF you would like a discussion with you about something, please contact the Village Clerk, at least 24 hours before the meeting to ensure it is added to the agenda.

We are looking for someone to be in charge of the car show!

*With the threat of severe weather this spring, we were pleasantly surprised to hear the siren go off this past Saturday. We are sure everyone feels better with this siren in working order! We are still looking at ways to pay the final bill.
*Please contact our Zoning Administrator, Betty Meyer (who is also our Village Chairperson) about any building projects. You might need a building permit. Better to check with her than to start a project and find out you needed one.
*Need a place to hold your next meeting, shower or seminar? The Manley Community Building is for rent! For more info and to schedule an event, contact Jolene Dalton, Village Clerk at the office. Parking for events is on the WEST side of the street only! Signs for this and for the parking at the Catholic Church will be secured so we don’t block residents or emergency vehicles.
The Village Board met Monday evening, Feb 20th to begin a community attitude survey. This survey will help the Village obtain grants for funding several projects, such as the Tornado Siren, Handicapped lift at the Community Building, ball park improvements and park improvements and we are asking for your assistance. ALL Manley residents should have received them in the mail. PLEASE fill them out and return them. The surveys ask a variety of questions to ascertain whether the village can raise the funds on their own thru the taxpayers or whether grants are available. The ONLY way we will qualify for any grants is for 100% participation. If someone refuses to participate, the board will have to look at ALL other avenues and resources to come up with the money. Currently, out of 72 households, less than 25 have sent them in! We need 100% participation!!!

***Saturday, April 22nd, Several members of the Board of Trustees and our Village Clerk, walked both Spurs collecting trash and debris for 2 ½ hours. This is all volunteer work that the village board and Clerk does to continue the excellent care and look of the Village. Please take a moment to thank them for their dedication to the Village. If you would like to Volunteer for the Fall Cleanup, please contact our Clerk, Jolene Dalton so we will know who to contact to help in the fall. Eleven trash bags were collected! Bags, gloves, grabbers, vests and signs were donated on loan by Keep Cass County Beautiful. We are grateful for their assistance and proud to support their efforts to ensure the entire county looks great! Over the past year the board members and village clerk have volunteered about 250 hours each to the Village of Manley (No pay for volunteer hours)!!! Please thank a Board Member!
NUISANCE VIOLATIONS
It is that time of year again when the Village Board must assess the Village for violations of the Nuisance Ordinance 90.5, which can be found on Manley’s Website, or you may obtain a copy from the Village Clerk. Nuisance issues will be on the agenda for tomorrow’s meeting.
Just a reminder that Papillion Sanitation is the ONLY Trash hauler allowed in the Village. If you have questions about this, please contact a board member or the Village Clerk.

A LOVING, LASTING TRIBUTE...
Last October 20, 2016, as children were anxiously anticipating Halloween and lots of trick-or-treating, a beautiful, young family of six perished in the night, as their rural home went up in flames. Four little girls, Elli, Adilynn, Emma, ages 11, 7 and 5, were students at Conestoga Elementary and had many friends, in and around the surrounding area, as did their baby sister, Anniston, 2, and their parents, Mike and Michelle Speer.
In honor of her family, JoLynne Lehan, Mike's mom, has directed that donations go to Conestoga's outdoor classroom, Cougar Hollow. With the four little girls' love of performing, playing and being out-of-doors exploring nature, in mind, the new additions for this special area will include a pavilion for outdoor instruments, a chalkboard and chairs. A memorial fountain will be added at a later date.
A brick walking path will direct visitors to this special area. If you would like to honor this family with a loving tribute, you may purchase a memorial brick paver for $75. You may add any name to be engraved on the brick. There is space for 3 rows, with each row including a total of 14 characters, (including spaces). The clock is ticking...you need to order soon. Download an order form with complete directions here.
Thank you for helping to make this vision possible!

This weekend over 50 women of all ages attended the first Princess Balls at Havenmakers Building at 129 Main Louisville Ne. This was a fund raiser for Open Door Mission Kids to Camp program where homeless children are provided daily activities throughout the summer. Hosted by Havenmakers Group with Nebraska Realty, it raised $2,000 that will allow over 40 kids to participate in the program. Jeanne Anderson, event host, states "this is going to be an annual event. There was amazing support in the community with people attending from Omaha to Lincoln and many surrounding towns. I wanted an event where women of all ages could just dance and interact. It was uplifting to seeing Grandmother's dancing with grandchildren. Good business connections were made as well for many entrepreneurs in attendance". Activities were donated by generous women owned businesses including shirt making by Simply Styled- Becky Robbins, Pearly
